KUWAIT CITY, April 12: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced on Saturday that Kuwait International Airport has successfully passed a security audit, surpassing the international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This audit is part of ICAO’s routine and official evaluations conducted across its member states.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Hamoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Director General of Civil Aviation, said, “This achievement reflects the strong support and commitment of our nation’s wise leadership to enhancing aviation safety and security, as well as fostering continued development and innovation in this crucial sector.”
He added that the accomplishment was the result of joint efforts by all entities operating at Kuwait International Airport and the DGCA, who worked diligently to meet and exceed the audit’s requirements, despite current security challenges.
The ICAO audit team conducted a thorough review of all airport facilities, ensuring compliance with international standards. The assessment focused on evaluating security systems and confirming the availability of the latest equipment and tools to safeguard the airport.
Sheikh Hamoud emphasized the importance of investing in advanced technologies and systems to maintain top-tier security standards and position Kuwait International Airport among the world’s leading airports. He also underlined the need for strategic planning and consistent efforts to enhance passenger services and achieve top rankings both regionally and globally.
He expressed sincere gratitude to all government and security agencies, national companies, and individuals who contributed to this success. He also praised their dedication to maintaining high standards for future evaluations, in alignment with the aspirations of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the wise leadership of Kuwait.
