KUWAIT CITY, April 17: The General Directorate of Coast Guard signed a cooperation agreement with the People's Republic of China on Wednesday, focused on ports, commercial maritime navigation, and the mutual recognition of seafarers' certificates.
On the Kuwaiti side, the agreement was signed by Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Yousef Al-Sabah, Director General of the General Directorate of Coast Guard, while the Chinese side was represented by Vice Minister of Transport Fu Xiuyin.
In a statement to KUNA, the Ministry of Interior confirmed that Sheikh Mubarak Al-Yousef welcomed Vice Minister Fu Xiuyin and his accompanying delegation at the Sabah Al-Ahmad Naval Base of the Coast Guard.
The agreement and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) are part of efforts to strengthen joint maritime cooperation, enhance strategic partnerships, and bolster bilateral ties between the two nations in this vital sector. The meeting also addressed areas of mutual interest related to maritime security, safety, and ways to improve coordination in these areas, contributing to shared goals.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Kuwait, Zhang Jianwei, as well as senior officials from the General Directorate of Coast Guard.
