Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan to visit Saudi Arabia for railway link project talks

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 20: Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan, Kuwait’s Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, is scheduled to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to discuss the next phase of the railway linkage project. This visit follows the recent approval of the project's financial, economic, technical, and social feasibility study.

According to a government source, the project will feature two distinct lines: one dedicated to passenger transport and the other for goods. The implementation of the project is set to commence in 2026, with a completion timeline of four years. The railway will be designed for high-speed travel for both passengers and cargo.

The source emphasized the shared commitment between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to expedite the project, which aims to enhance sustainable railway connectivity, boost economic integration, and increase trade exchange.

In related news, the source also announced that a fifth international company, a Portuguese firm, has joined the tender for the design of the Gulf railway project. This adds to the previously submitted bids from French, Turkish, Spanish, and Chinese companies.
