Kuwait Arrests Seven Jordanian Women in Anti-Begging Crackdown

KUWAIT CITY, Mar 12: In line with the directives of His Excellency the Acting Prime Minister, Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, and as part of ongoing efforts to combat negative societal phenomena and apprehend violators, the General Department of Residence Affairs Investigations conducted a security campaign resulting in the arrest of seven female beggars of Jordanian nationality. The individuals have been referred to the relevant authorities for legal action.

The General Department of Residence Affairs Investigations reiterated its commitment to addressing this issue firmly, stating that all violators will be deported under their residency status.
The measures include:
Residency Article (22) – Family Sponsorship: Deportation of both the violator and the sponsor responsible for them.
Residency Article (18) – Private Sector Employment: Deportation of the violator and closure of the company’s file.
Residency Article (20) – Domestic Workers: Deportation of the violator and a ban on the employer from sponsoring or issuing visas in the future.

Additionally, individuals found exploiting children for begging to exploit public sympathy will face charges of "exploitation of minors," with strict legal consequences. The Ministry of Interior urges citizens and expats to cooperate by reporting any instances of begging through the following channels:
