KUWAIT CITY, Feb 20: Bank officials are considering a proposal to adjust customer service hours in local banks during the upcoming month of Ramadan, with some advocating for the introduction of an evening shift, making the banking hours span two shifts instead of one.
Sources revealed that multiple banks have proposed changing the operating hours during Ramadan. If the proposal is implemented, morning hours will remain the same as last Ramadan, starting from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with an additional evening shift from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Last Ramadan, bank branches in shopping malls had two working periods, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., while branches at Kuwait International Airport operated 24 hours. Some banks are in favor of maintaining the previous year's schedule, noting that customers can use smartphone apps or ATMs for transactions. However, others argue for extending banking hours to better accommodate customers whose schedules align with evening hours. Discussions are ongoing, and a decision is expected before Ramadan begins.
