KUWAIT CITY, Jan 23: The Kuwait Banking Association (KBA) announced that local banks will be closed on Thursday, January 30, in observance of Isra and Miraj. Deputy Secretary General of the KBA, Sheikha Al-Essa, confirmed in a press statement on Wednesday that the closure is in accordance with the official holiday for this occasion.
Al-Essa added that banks will resume operations on Sunday, February 2, following a directive issued by the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK).
The Cabinet had previously decided, during its weekly meeting on January 14, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, to suspend work in all ministries, government agencies, and public institutions on Thursday, January 30, in celebration of Isra and Miraj. Official work will resume on Sunday, February 2.
