KUWAIT CITY, Mar 10: The Mosques Sector of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has called on imams and muezzins to comply with a fatwa issued by the Ministry’s Iftaa Authority, which prohibits the use of mosques for advertising any product or commercial commodity.
In a recent circular, the Mosques Sector reiterated the importance of adhering to the fatwa issued by the General Affairs Committee of the Iftaa Authority, under the Iftaa and Sharia Research Sector. The fatwa, issued last year in response to a query, addresses the practice of profit-making entities offering free services within mosques.
The fatwa explicitly states that mosques must not be utilized as platforms for advertising any product or commercial commodity, as such activities contradict the sacred purpose for which mosques were established. It emphasizes the need to maintain the sanctity and cleanliness of mosques, ensuring they remain free from such practices both inside the prayer halls and in their outer courtyards. The Ministry’s directive underscores its commitment to preserving the spiritual and communal integrity of mosques, safeguarding them from commercial exploitation.
