Kuwait Bans Screening of 'Wicked' Over LGBTQ+ Character Concerns

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 3: Kuwait has banned the screening of the movie Wicked, which was scheduled to debut in cinemas on December 5. The decision comes amid reports that the film includes a gay character, which led to its prohibition.

The movie, which premiered in the United States and Canada last week, has been shown in several countries worldwide. Despite the ban in Kuwait, Wicked achieved a record-breaking opening, grossing over $114 million in its first two days in North America alone. The film, produced on a $145 million budget, far surpassed the earnings of the second installment of Gladiator, which garnered $55.5 million domestically.
