Kuwait busts illegal residency transfer network, 600 affected

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 26: Under the directives and instructions of His Excellency the Acting Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, and as part of ongoing security efforts to combat human trafficking and address law violations, the General Department of Residency Affairs Investigations has successfully apprehended a criminal network. The group comprises a citizen who owns a company and his Syrian partner, charged with forgery and tampering with official documents to facilitate obtaining residency permits in exchange for money.

Details revealed that the suspects illegally transferred workers' residencies to the company in return for amounts ranging from 300 to 500 Kuwaiti Dinars per worker. Investigations also found that the company was involved in transferring vehicles to its sponsorship to facilitate obtaining "heavy equipment driver" professions in exchange for 500 Kuwaiti Dinars per worker.

Through the diligent efforts of the investigative team, it was uncovered that a total of 600 workers were registered under the companies linked to the suspects. The individuals were apprehended following extensive investigations and referred to the competent authorities for all necessary legal procedures.

The Ministry of Interior emphasizes its ongoing efforts to pursue anyone who attempts to harm the country’s interests or violate the law, affirming its commitment to enforcing the law firmly and without exception.
