HARBIN, Feb 13: The director of the Kuwaiti delegation at the ninth Asian Winter Games "Harbin 2025," Fahid Al-Ajmi, praised the strong performance of Kuwaiti athletes in this edition, highlighting their ability to compete at the continental level. He noted that their achievements in Harbin mark Kuwait's best results in the history of its participation in the Games since 1999.
In a statement to the Kuwaiti media delegation accompanying the mission, Al-Ajmi reflected on Kuwait’s participation as the tournament concluded today. He emphasized the remarkable performance of the national ice hockey team, which secured three victories and suffered only one narrow defeat against Kyrgyzstan.
He added that these victories represent Kuwait’s most successful showing in this major continental event. Al-Ajmi commended the dedication of the players, as well as the efforts of the technical and administrative staff, whose hard work in training translated into impressive performances on the ice.
He also highlighted the achievements of the Kuwaiti curling team, particularly Saud Al-Kandari and Fatima Abdul Latif, who delivered a standout performance in the mixed doubles competition. They made history by defeating Mongolia when they competed in Kuwait’s first-ever international curling event.
Additionally, Al-Ajmi praised the efforts of Kuwaiti ice skaters Fares Al-Obaid, Abdulrahman Al-Wahaibi, and Salman Al-Kandari, who showcased commendable skill and determination in their events.
