KUWAIT CITY, Dec 27: Over 800,000 Christians in Kuwait, mainly Asian nationals constituting 713,347 of the total Christian population of 824,436 celebrated Christmas.Kuwaitis form the least population of Christians in the country with 207 believers. As per recent statistics released by the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), Arab Christians claim the distant second highest Christian population in Kuwait with 65,610, and 27,099 African Christians were placed third, followed by 9,488 Europeans.Christians from North America were rated the fifth largest population with 7,567 while South American Christians beat their counterparts from Australia for the sixth place with 651, and the latter 407.
Christians seen trooping to churches
This year’s festivity saw Christians trooping out in large numbers from different governorates to churches along the Arabian Gulf Road to listen to sermons delivered by their respective clergymen.One of the worshippers William Mena in a festive mood said all Christians practice their religion in Kuwait peacefully without hindrance from any quarter. He noted many Christians gathered with their Muslim friends at various beaches to share the festive moment.Frando Mano, another faithful, declared the Christmas atmosphere in Kuwait is fantastic. He noted going to the beach with members of his family and neighbors to catch fun, and disclosed the intention to join other worshippers in church later that evening.
