May you be blessed, my country Kuwait, for you have always been our home and a true homeland.
The Catholic Church in the State of Kuwait extends its heartfelt congratulations and blessings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah (May God protect him), His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah (May God protect him), the government, and the generous people of Kuwait on the occasion of the National Day. On this joyous day, we take pride in recalling Kuwait’s rich history of giving and its remarkable achievements in development, peace, and coexistence. Kuwait has long stood as a unique model for promoting religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence among all segments of society. It offers a safe and open environment filled with love and mutual respect under its wise leadership.
On the occasion of Kuwait’s Liberation in February 1991, the Catholic Church witnessed an iconic event, with priests and monks ringing the cathedral bells to celebrate this historic moment. This event was a heartfelt expression of the joy, unity, and hope that filled the hearts of everyone, reaffirming the values of freedom and peace that bind the people of the nation together. In Christian tradition, the ringing of bells signifies the announcement of good news and joy, spreading light and symbolizing renewed hope. On that special day, the faces of the priests, monks, and citizens radiated with pride and gratitude. The sound of the bells carried a sublime message that combined the spirit of religious unity with the spirit of patriotism.
This gesture was a symbol of the Catholic Church’s solidarity with the Kuwaiti people in celebrating the liberation of the homeland and marking the birth of a new dawn, one that heralded an era of stability and progress. Finally, the sounds of the bells that rang on that day remain a living testament to the strength of the high spirits and patriotism that unite us. We pray to God to continue blessing Kuwait with security and safety, and to crown its efforts with even greater achievements, progress, and prosperity. May He protect its leaders and people from all harm. We pray that Kuwait remains an oasis of peace and goodness, and a shining example of brotherhood between diverse peoples and cultures. Many happy returns to Kuwait, its leadership, and its people.
