Kuwait Club and Burgan remain strong heading into Round 2

KUWAIT CITY, April 7: Three matches are scheduled for today in the second round of the 58th edition of the Premier Handball League at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex. The action will begin at 4:30 pm with Kuwait Club facing Salmiya, followed by Burgan taking on Al-Arabi at 6:00 pm, and the final match of the day will feature Kazma against Sulaibikhat.

Currently, Kuwait Club leads the standings with 28 points, followed by Burgan with 23 points. Kazma sits in third on goal difference, with 23 points as well. Al-Arabi has accumulated 18 points, while Salmiya and Sulaibikhat are tied with 16 points.

Under the 2024-2025 season league format, the top six teams at the end of the preliminary round will advance to the Premier League, which is divided into three divisions, while the remaining teams will compete in the First Division, split into two divisions. Points from the preliminary round will carry over to both leagues.

The league will take a break from April 21 to May 15 to allow for Kuwait’s participation in the 10th Arab Cup, which will be hosted in Kuwait from May 4 to 12. The tournament will feature teams from Kuwait, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt.

The First Division League kicked off the day before yesterday, with Al-Qadsiya securing a 35-25 victory over Al-Yarmouk and Al-Nasr defeating Al-Sahel 45-31.
