KUWAIT CITY, March 15: Kuwait Club won against Algeria's Shabiba Al-Saoura club 1-0 in the preliminary round of the King Salman Cup for Arab Champions Clubs. The match took place at the Kuwait Club Stadium, and the local league champions from the previous season had the upper hand in the first half, attempting to advance but were repeatedly thwarted by the Algerian team's defense.

Kuwait began the second half with a greater determination to win, buoyed by the support of their fans. Their efforts paid off in the 60th minute, when Mohammed Al-Marhoon, their Bahraini professional player scored the winning goal by grabbing a loose ball in front of the goalpost. The match ended with an important victory for Kuwait, who now have a goal advantage ahead of the return match scheduled for next Tuesday in Algeria.

The winner of the second and final round of the tournament, to be held in Saudi Arabia next summer, will be decided based on the results of these matches.
