KUWAIT CITY, Dec 3: Kuwait Club secured a hard-fought 75-71 victory against Shabab Al-Ahli of the Emirates in a gripping encounter held at Shabab Al-Ahli Hall as part of the third stage of the Asian Super League Championship for the Gulf region.
With this win, Kuwait Club extended its tally to 6 points, claiming the top spot in the group standings. Shabab Al-Ahli, despite the loss, increased its score to 5 points.
The match was marked by intensity and competitiveness from the outset. Kuwait gained an early edge through Hamad Adnan's dynamic plays and American player Augustine's dominance under the basket, building an 8-point lead. However, Shabab Al-Ahli responded through Qais Al-Shabibi’s stellar scoring efforts, ending the first quarter narrowly trailing 16-17.
In the second quarter, Kuwait Club continued to excel, led by the exceptional passing of American star Brianti. Imran Jawhar and Augustine also made significant contributions, extending Kuwait Club’s lead to 8 points. The half concluded with Kuwait Club ahead 40-35.
The third quarter saw Shabab Al-Ahli mounting a strong comeback, leveling the score before Kuwait Club regained its momentum, finishing the quarter with a 56-52 lead.
The final quarter brought heightened drama as both teams exchanged points in a tense battle. Kuwait Club ultimately sealed the win, bolstered by a solid defensive performance and key contributions from its standout players.
