KUWAIT CITY, July 30: Al-Salmiya will visit Kuwait Club on Friday at 7:30 pm for a friendly match, marking the final pre-season fixture for both teams before the new season begins. This match serves as a crucial preparation step for both clubs as they gear up for the Zain Premier League, which kicks off on August 8. The "Whites" have just returned from their training camp in Turkey, while Al-Salmiya returned from Bosnia last Friday.
Kuwait Club’s Montenegrin coach, Nebojsa Jovovic, aims to finalize his starting lineup for the league opener against Al-Qadisiya, scheduled for August 8. The team will also travel to Manama on August 2 to face Al-Ahli of Bahrain in a playoff match for the AFC Champions League 2 qualification. Kuwait Club has bolstered its squad with new signings including Moroccan Amin Abu Al-Fath, Tunisians Yahya Jabrane and Yassin Al-Khenisi, Bahraini Mohammed Marhoun, and Congolese Arsène Zola "Malik".
On the other side, Al-Salmiya is also focused on preparing for the season under Croatian coach Ante Misha. The team features five foreign players: Tunisian Imad Louati, Moroccan Younes Al-Najjari, Brazilian Alex Lima, Libyan Al-Sanousi Al-Hadi, and Guinean Sang Pierre. Al-Fahaheel concluded its training camp in Egypt with a 1-0 win over Egyptian team Proxi, with Brazilian William Barros scoring the decisive goal. The team will return this evening.
Khaled Abdel Quddous, Vice President of the Football Department, expressed satisfaction with the camp's outcomes. He noted that the technical staff provided all players with a chance to showcase their abilities before the season began. Abdel Quddous also praised the Kuwait Football Association's decision to trim the roster to 25 players, calling it a "positive" move that will allow many players to demonstrate their skills in other clubs.
