Kuwait Club prepares for Arab Clubs Championship with Doha training camp

Kuwait Club scores a point against Al-Nasr in the opening match of the league.

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 24: The first volleyball team of Kuwait Club is set to depart for Doha, Qatar, on January 3 to participate in an external training camp ahead of the Arab Clubs Championship. The tournament will take place in Qatar from January 13 to 26, with Kuwait Club and Burgan Club representing Kuwait.

The championship draw placed Kuwait Club in Group B alongside Oman’s Al-Seeb, Libya’s Al-Hilal, and Egypt’s Zamalek. Meanwhile, Burgan Club will compete in Group D with Palestine’s Gaza, Qatar, and the UAE’s Al-Jazira.

Kuwait Club will be missing player Hussein Al-Masry, who was signed this season from Al-Arabi but is sidelined due to a ruptured Achilles tendon injury sustained during the Union Championship match against Al-Arabi.

In domestic competition, Kuwait Club secured a convincing 3-0 victory (25-21, 25-12, 25-16) against Al-Nasr in the opening match of the 58th edition of the League at the Volleyball Association Hall in Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex. Kuwait Club is set to play its second league match against Yarmouk tomorrow at 7:00 pm in the same venue.

The Volleyball Association has scheduled two additional league matches for Kuwait Club to accommodate its participation in the Arab Clubs Championship.

Historically, Al-Qadsiya has won the championship title 23 times, followed by Kazma with 15 titles and Kuwait Club with 14. Al-Arabi has claimed the title four times, while Al-Jahra has won once.
