DOHA, Feb 8: Kuwait Club has secured Egyptian Zamalek handball star Shadi Khalil to bolster their squad for the 41st Gulf Clubs Championship, scheduled in Oman from February 15 to 24. Khalil joins existing professionals Frankis Marzo and Angel Hernandez from the Qatari team.

The tournament draw places Kuwait Club in Group B, alongside Qatar's Al-Arabi, Oman's Oman Club, and the UAE's Dibba Al-Hisn.

Kuwait Club is conducting a training camp in Doha, Qatar, where Khalil will integrate with the squad. It faces Al-Duhail in a friendly match, followed by a game against Qatar SC on February 12, before departing for Muscat on February 13.

Handball Director Sameh Al-Hajri commended the Doha camp's progress and the players' adherence to the coaching staff's directives. He noted the team's readiness for the Gulf Championship, except for winger Saleh Al-Moussawi, who sustained an injury during the World Cup in Croatia. The medical team is actively working on Al-Moussawi's rehabilitation to ensure his availability for the championship.

Al-Hajri expressed gratitude to the Kuwait Club Board, led by President Khaled Al-Ghanim, for its unwavering support in overcoming challenges and adequately preparing the team to represent Kuwaiti handball competitively in the Gulf arena.
