Kuwait Club holds training session in Manama.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3: Kuwait Club has officially signed a contract with Brazilian handball player Guillermo Santista, who currently plays in the French League, to bolster the team’s lineup for the 27th Asian Clubs Championship, set to take place in Doha, Qatar, from November 13-24.

Santista becomes the fifth professional player to join Kuwait Club for the Asian Championship, following the additions of Qatari Frankis Marzo and Portuguese Angel Hernandez and championship veterans Portuguese Semedo and Algerian Osama Jaziri.

The Kuwait Club handball team recently wrapped up its training camp in Bahrain, where they played a friendly match against Al-Ahli of Bahrain. The team is scheduled to return to Kuwait today before departing for Qatar on November 11.

Sameh Al-Hajri, the handball director at Kuwait Club, noted that the team played only one friendly match during the camp due to nine players joining the national team, which limited its ability to schedule additional matches.

Al-Hajri emphasized that Kuwait Club is committed to competing seriously for the Asian title, supported by the club's management, the technical and administrative staff, and the players' hard work.

In league action, the Qadsiya handball team continues to struggle, suffering a 23-25 loss to Salmiya in the sixth round of the general league "merge," held at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex Hall. Meanwhile, Al-Qurain secured a convincing 32-18 victory over Al-Tadamon.

The current league standings are as follows: Al-Salmiya leads with 10 points, followed by Kazma, Kuwait Club, Al-Arabi, and Al-Sulaibikhat with 8 points each, Burgan with 7 points, and Al-Qurain, Al-Nasr, and Al-Fahaheel with 6 points each. Khaitan and Qadsiya have 4 points, while Yarmouk, Al-Sahel, and Al-Tadamon remain scoreless. Note that the match between Kuwait Club and Kazma has been postponed since the fifth round.
