BAWSHAR, Oman, Feb 13: The Kuwait Club handball team will kick off its campaign in the preliminary round of Group Two in the 41st Gulf Clubs Championship on Saturday, at 4:00 pm, facing Qatar’s Al-Arabi. This will be followed by a 6:30 pm match between Oman’s Oman Club and Dibba Al-Hisn of the UAE within the same group.

Group One features Al-Rayyan of Qatar, Al-Noor of Saudi Arabia, Al-Najma of Bahrain, and Al-Seeb of Oman. Their matches will commence the day after tomorrow, with all games being played at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bousher.

The Kuwait team prepared for this Gulf Championship through a training camp in Doha, Qatar, where it played two friendly matches against Al-Duhail and Qatar Club. The team has also strengthened its lineup with Egyptian Zamalek player Shadi Khalil, joining the “Whites” alongside fellow professionals Frankis Marzo from Qatar and Angel Hernandez from the UAE.

Sameh Al-Hajri, Director of Handball at Kuwait Club, commended the players’ commitment and discipline throughout the Doha camp, emphasizing their dedication to the technical and administrative staff’s instructions. He expressed confidence, stating, "We are entering this Gulf event to compete for the title."

Hajri also extended his gratitude to Kuwait Club Chairman Khaled Al-Ghanem and the Board of Directors for their ongoing support, which has allowed the team to overcome previous challenges and enter the tournament fully prepared.

Kuwait Club's handball team has seen significant success in recent years, winning the Asian Clubs Championship in July 2022, their first international title, followed by the Gulf Clubs Championship in March 2023 and the Arab Championship in August 2023. They retained their Arab Championship title in September 2024, securing their second consecutive victory in the competition.
