KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11: The first Volleyball Federation Championship will kick off on Thursday, with the Competitions Committee releasing the schedule for the season's opening event. Two matches are set for the first day: Kuwait Club will face Al-Nasr, while Burqan will compete against Al-Sulaibikhat. The first round will conclude on Friday with matches between Al-Qadsiya and Al-Shabab, and Kazma versus Al-Yarmouk.

A total of nine clubs are participating in the Federation Championship: Kuwait Club, Al-Qadsiya, Al-Arabi, Kazma, Al-Nasr, Al-Sulaibikhat, Burqan, Al-Shabab, and Al-Yarmouk. The competition follows a single-round league system, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals. In these, the first-place team will play the fourth, and the second will face the third, with the winners progressing to the final.

The Volleyball Federation delayed the start of the new season until after Kuwait participated in the Arab Championship. Kuwait’s team secured sixth place after a 0-3 loss to Iraq in the match determining fifth and sixth places.

In other news, the Bahraini men’s volleyball team won the Arab Championship, defeating Qatar 3-1 in the final. Qatar took second place, while Tunisia claimed third after beating Oman 3-0 in the bronze medal match.
