KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: In the opening match of the 62nd edition of the local Premier League (Zain League), Kuwait Club emerged victorious against their opponent, Al-Jahra, with a final score of 3-1

Kuwait Club's dominant performance on their home turf saw them secure the win with a series of well-executed goals. Yassin Al-Khunaisi found the back of the net in the 37th minute, followed by Yassin Ameri's goals in the 41st and 80th minutes. Al-Jahra's lone goal came courtesy of Rodrigo in the 90th minute.

The league championship, featuring a total of 10 participating clubs, will unfold in its initial phase through a comprehensive two-round system, involving matches both at home and away. After the conclusion of these rounds, the clubs will be categorized into two groups based on their rankings and accumulated points.

The top six teams will compose the first group, engaging in home-and-away fixtures to determine the ultimate title holder. Simultaneously, the second group will consist of teams positioned from seventh to tenth place. This group will compete in a home-and-away structure, aiming to avoid relegation to the first division. Ultimately, two teams will face relegation.

Kuwait Club stands as the most decorated participant in the league, boasting an impressive 18 titles. Al-Arabi and Al-Qadisiyah clubs follow closely with 17 titles each. Meanwhile, Al-Salmiya and Kazma clubs share a tally of four titles apiece. Notably, Al-Jahra Club clinched the title once in its history.
