Kuwait Club wins 12th straight Premier Handball League title

KUWAIT CITY, June 10: The Kuwait Club clinched victory in the 57th edition of the Handball Premier League, following the conclusion of the tenth round of the league. Kuwait Club secured a 35-32 win over Al-Qadisiya, while Kazma triumphed 41-26 over Burgan and Al-Salmiya defeated Al-Arabi 29-22, resulting in an outstanding ranking. The final standings are as follows: Kuwait Club leading with 42 points, Kazma is the runner-up with 36 points, Al-Qadisiya is in third place with 33 points, Al-Salmiya is fourth with 27 points, Al-Arabi fifth with 25 points, Burgan is in sixth place with 20 points.

With this victory, Kuwait Club affirmed its dominance in local competitions, securing the league shield for the 12th consecutive time and the 14th time in its history, making it the “dean” of Kuwaiti handball, a feat unparalleled in history.

The final round of the league also witnessed a retirement ceremony for former national team player and Sulaibikhat Club star, Faisal Siwan, who played from 1992 to 2016, achieving numerous milestones with both the club and national teams he represented. The ceremony was held under the patronage and presence of former Vice President of the National Assembly and Honorary President of Al-Qurain Ahmed Club, Al-Shahoumi, and attended by former National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem, Kuwait Club President Khaled Al-Ghanem, Sulaibikhat Club President Saad Enad Al-Anazi, Secretary Nasser Mansi, Kazma Treasurer Omar Al-Mulla, as well as members of the Handball Federation’s Board of Directors and Saudi Handball Federation member Fakher Al-Gashi.

Kuwait Club President Khaled Al-Ghanem extended congratulations to retired player Faisal Siwan, expressing gratitude for his contributions to Kuwaiti handball over the years. He emphasized that this celebration was a fitting tribute to a player who had given so much to his country, attributing the club’s 12th consecutive Premier Handball League title to the dedication and hard work of its players, technical and administrative staff, labeling them as the golden generation of handball in the White Castle. He pledged to maintain the club’s leadership position in the sport.

Secretary of the Handball Association, Qayed Al-Adwani, congratulated Kuwait Club for winning the league, Kazma Club for securing the runner-up position, and Al-Qadisiya Club for finishing third, commending the collective effort put forth throughout the season.

Mubarak Al-Daihani, a member of the Association’s Board of Directors, extended congratulations on the successful handball season, wishing success to all clubs, while Omar Al-Mulla, Kazma Treasurer, congratulated Kazma fans for their team’s runner-up position, expressed gratitude to the club’s administration for their support and praising the players and staff.

On another note, the delegation of the Arab Handball Federation visited Al-Arabi Club Hall in Mansouriya to assess preparations for hosting the 39th Arab Club Handball Championship, scheduled to take place from September 15-25. The reigning champion, Kuwait Club, will participate in the tournament, with Al-Arabi hosting and Al-Qadisiyah ranking third in the league. Ali Ach, a member of the Al-Arabi Club, expressed positivity about the visit, stating that the club is overcoming obstacles to ensure a successful tournament, welcoming Kuwait’s guests to this prestigious Arab event.
