KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Oct 21: Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Hamoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the head of Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation, affirmed today, Monday, the authority's commitment to enhancing cooperation with countries in the field of air transport. This commitment is demonstrated through Kuwait's participation in the annual meeting of the International Civil Aviation Agreements Conference (ICAO 2024).

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) during his leadership of the Kuwaiti delegation at the ICAO 2024 conference, which began today in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, Sheikh Hamoud noted that "this meeting represents a suitable opportunity for countries to discuss signing bilateral agreements to regulate air transport between them or to update memoranda of understanding related to operational matters that serve the interests of both nations and their airlines."

He clarified that Kuwait will strive, through its participation in this meeting alongside 73 other countries, to sign agreements and memoranda of understanding with several nations to expand its network of relationships and address the needs of its national carriers. This includes connecting Kuwait International Airport with a larger operational network of other airports to benefit all travelers to and from Kuwait International Airport.

The Malaysian Ministry of Transport is hosting the ICAO 2024 conference, organized and overseen by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), from October 21 to 25. The event will be attended by representatives of civil aviation authorities worldwide, as well as numerous regional and international organizations specialized in civil aviation.

This international meeting provides an opportunity for bilateral, regional, or multilateral negotiations and consultations regarding air services, allowing policymakers, regulatory bodies, aircraft operators, service providers, and other stakeholders to engage with one another. (KUNA)
