KUWAIT CITY, March 3: The Kuwaiti national tennis team is competing in the Junior World Cup qualifiers, known as the Billie Jean King Junior Cup, which began earlier this month in Kuching, Malaysia.
Representing Kuwait in the tournament are players Noura Marzouq Al-Ghanim, Huda Hamoud Al-Dubos, and Somo Hamoud Al-Dubos, under the guidance of coach Rodolphe Russo.
This marks the first time in history that Kuwait is participating in the tournament with a junior team under 16 years old. The achievement is the result of collaboration between the Kuwait Tennis Federation and the Rafa Nadal Academy Kuwait. Ahead of the competition, the junior team underwent an intensive month-long training camp at the academy, where they were coached by highly qualified trainers with international experience. Notably, the three participating players are among Kuwait’s top young talents.
Chairman of the Kuwait Tennis Federation, Abdul Redha Al-Gharib, expressed his gratitude to the Public Authority for Sports for its strong support of tennis and sports in Kuwait. He also extended his appreciation to Rafa Nadal Academy Kuwait for their dedicated efforts in training and preparing national team players across various age groups for international competitions. Al-Gharib emphasized that Kuwait’s participation in this prestigious junior tournament is a significant milestone in the country’s tennis development journey.
