KUWAIT CITY, March 3: The General Directorate of Computer Science at the Ministry of Education has recommended the development of curricula and training programs focused on artificial intelligence (AI) to prepare a new generation of students capable of utilizing AI technologies across various fields. The initiative aims to equip students with the necessary skills to keep pace with evolving technological advancements.
As part of this effort, the Ministry emphasized the need for qualified educators to teach the new AI-focused curricula and the upgrading of technological infrastructure in schools to ensure a smooth transition. The General Technical Guidance for Computers has proposed several key initiatives, including collaboration with Google to train teachers on AI education and to create adaptable curricula that can be continuously updated to align with rapid advancements in the AI field.
Informed sources have indicated that the Ministry of Education, through the General Technical Guidance of Computers, has reviewed a proposal aimed at incorporating AI into the education sector. The project, submitted by Google to the Kuwaiti Embassy in Washington, is seen as a significant opportunity for Kuwait to achieve notable progress in its education system.
Sources also highlighted several key recommendations, including ensuring that the proposed AI project aligns with "Kuwait Vision 2035" and conducting a comprehensive feasibility study before any decisions are made. They also stressed the importance of learning from other countries that have successfully implemented similar AI initiatives.
Additionally, Google has proposed a second project focused on collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence Academy at the government level. This partnership includes training initiatives such as the "Government AI Campus," which offers training courses, virtual events, and resources aimed at enhancing the skills and practical experiences of government leaders. Google has also translated all resources into Arabic and is ready to offer this program to Kuwait, marking a significant step in fostering continued cooperation between the two sides.
The Ministry of Education’s potential collaboration with Google represents a forward-looking strategy to integrate AI education into Kuwait’s schools, aiming to prepare students and government leaders alike for the technological challenges of the future.
