Kuwait Court Acquits Gulf Businessman of Stolen Documents and Coercion Charges

KUWAIT CITY, Mar 12: The Court of Appeal has upheld a ruling by the Criminal Court acquitting a Gulf businessman of charges related to stealing checks and official documents from a company he co-owned with his partners. The prosecution had alleged that the businessman, along with unidentified individuals, used violence to restrain the victim at Maidan Hawally Police Station, immobilizing him and seizing the documents. However, attorney Abdulaziz Al-Yaqout, representing the businessman, successfully argued that the case lacked evidence of coercion, criminal intent, or the material elements required to prove the crime. He also emphasized the implausibility of the incident and dismissed the charges as malicious and fabricated. The Court of Appeal rejected the prosecution’s appeal, affirming the lower court’s acquittal verdict.
