KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3: Authorities from the Ministry of Interior, specifically the Migrant Workers Shelter Section, have arrested a Syrian expat with a criminal history who was involved in the illicit activity of smuggling migrant female workers away from their sponsors' homes and employing them for daily wages. The operation involved search, investigation, and monitoring that lasted for a week
A security source disclosed, "Numerous reports from concerned Kuwaitis alerted the Residency Affairs Investigations team to instances of workers fleeing their sponsors' homes. Consequently, a dedicated team of detectives was assembled to pinpoint and surveil areas associated with these reports. This concerted effort led to the apprehension of the accused, a Syrian national, in the act of expertly smuggling a maid from her sponsor's residence in the Jaber Al-Ahmad area. He was promptly apprehended and handed over to the Investigations Bureau."
The source further stated, "The accused confessed to engaging in this criminal activity for an extended period. He also guided detectives to an apartment in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area where four female workers were found in hiding."
