KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3: In a significant crackdown on drug smuggling, customs officials from the Search and Investigation Department of the General Administration of Customs have successfully intercepted a shipment containing approximately 60,000 capsules of the controlled substance Lyrica.
According to sources, the discovery was made using Kuwait’s automated customs inspection system. The system flagged a suspicious package arriving from an Asian country through one of the express mail services. Upon halting the shipment, customs officers conducted a thorough inspection and uncovered a large quantity of capsules totaling around 60,000 units of Lyrica, a narcotic substance. The seized capsules have since been confiscated and handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
The General Administration of Customs has issued a stern warning to those attempting to smuggle illegal substances and prohibited goods of any kind into the country. The agency reiterated that such actions would result in severe legal consequences, with strict customs protocols in place to prevent illicit imports and ensure public safety.
