Kuwait Deports 36,610 Expats Amid Intensified Security Campaigns

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 8: The number of expatriates deported for violating laws and regulations in Kuwait has climbed to approximately 36,610 individuals of various nationalities, according to figures recorded as of the end of last week. The increase reflects the intensified pace of nationwide security campaigns carried out across all governorates as part of ongoing efforts to apprehend violators and strengthen public safety and community security.

A security source said that the majority of those deported were of Asian nationalities, explaining that deportations were primarily linked to breaches of residency and labor laws, as well as involvement in criminal cases. The source noted that, in many instances, the Ministry of Interior has opted for deportation as a more appropriate measure rather than pursuing prison sentences, particularly in cases where removal from the country effectively addresses the violation.

The source attributed the high number of deportations to close coordination among multiple security and administrative sectors, including the Traffic Department, Public Security, Residency Affairs Investigations, and the Tripartite Committee. These authorities have intensified joint operations and inspection campaigns to track down and apprehend violators.

He further confirmed that all deportation procedures are completed within a period not exceeding one month, in accordance with the law, while the actual enforcement of deportation orders is typically carried out within 10 days, underscoring the efficiency and speed of the process.
