Kuwait Deports Woman After Revoking Citizenship for Insulting State

KUWAIT CITY, Mar 9 : The Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday evening the arrest of a woman whose citizenship had been revoked under Article 8 of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law after she publicly insulted state decisions on social media.

In a statement, the Ministry explained that as part of ongoing security efforts to address violations of the law and protect state institutions, the relevant authorities successfully apprehended the woman. She had violated state decisions and undermined the rule of law through a live session on a social media platform.

The Ministry noted that the accused was arrested following a thorough investigation by the authorities, who monitored her violations on a digital platform. During the session, she made offensive statements and challenged the sovereign decisions of the state. After completing the necessary legal procedures and obtaining approval from the appropriate authorities, she was detained and transferred to the Deportation and Temporary Detention Affairs Department, pending her deportation to her country of origin.

The Ministry of Interior reiterated that the security authorities will not tolerate any attempts to insult the state, undermine its decisions, or violate its sovereignty under any circumstances. It emphasized that it will continue to pursue individuals who incite actions that threaten security and stability, using all available means, and will enforce strict legal measures against anyone who violates the laws of the state.
