KUWAIT CITY, Jan 7: The Ministry of Social Affairs announced on Monday the dissolution and liquidation of 13 public benefit associations due to their failure to comply with laws and regulations, as well as their lack of an effective role in the community for several years.
In a press statement, the ministry explained that the decision followed a comprehensive review of these associations. The associations were found to have failed to hold regular general assemblies or submit the necessary financial and administrative reports. This lack of compliance prompted the ministry to take action to enhance transparency and ensure that the associations fulfill their societal mission.
The ministry noted that the associations affected by this decision were involved in various fields, including culture, health, and social services. However, they violated Article 27 of Law No. 24/1962 concerning clubs and public benefit associations, which mandates that associations must fulfill their legal obligations and conduct activities that benefit the community.
The ministry emphasized that it had provided these associations with sufficient opportunities to rectify their situations, issuing official warnings. However, no significant actions were taken by the associations to address the violations, leading to the decision to dissolve them.
This measure is part of the Ministry of Social Affairs' ongoing efforts to improve the civil work sector and strengthen its role in community development. The ministry remains committed to overseeing the performance of civil society organizations and applying the law to any group that violates regulations or fails to fulfill its responsibilities.
The ministry reaffirmed its dedication to directing resources and efforts towards effective associations that achieve their intended goals and contribute positively to the nation and society.
