KUWAIT CITY, March 8: The Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday that the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Department for Combating Narcotics, successfully arrested a gang of five individuals involved in drug trafficking across various parts of the country. The suspects were found in possession of 14 kilograms of narcotics and 9,000 psychotropic tablets.
In a press statement, the Ministry explained that this operation is part of the ongoing security efforts and proactive measures undertaken by the General Department for Combating Narcotics to apprehend drug dealers and smugglers.
After verifying the accuracy of the received information and obtaining legal approval from the Public Prosecution, the department arrested five suspects: two Kuwaiti citizens, two stateless individuals, and one Syrian national. The authorities seized the following substances from the group: 8.5 kilograms of hashish, 5 kilograms of crystal meth, half a kilogram of Lyrica powder, 50 grams of chemicals, 30 grams of marijuana, 7,000 Lyrica capsules, 2,000 Tramadol tablets, 200 psychotropic tablets, and 400 milliliters of hashish oil. Additionally, the suspects had tools for filling Lyrica capsules.
The accused individuals and the seized materials were referred to the Drugs and Alcohol Prosecution for further legal action.
The Ministry of Interior affirmed that it will continue its campaigns through the General Department for Combating Narcotics to apprehend drug dealers and distributors, in order to ensure the safety and security of society and protect it from the harmful effects of drugs.
