KUWAIT CITY, April 12: Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs, Sheikha Jawaher Al-Ibrahim Al-Duaij Al-Sabah, visited the General Directorate of the Coast Guard to strengthen efforts in supporting and empowering women and to review the department’s achievements in this area, the Ministry of Interior said in a press statement issued by the Security Media Department on Friday.
The visit is part of a series of tours conducted by Sheikha Jawaher in her capacity as Chairperson of the National Committee for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security, the ministry explained.
During the visit, Sheikha Jawaher was presented with a visual briefing highlighting the key achievements of the Coast Guard Directorate, particularly the significant role women have played across various roles and specialties. The presentation also outlined the practical measures taken to empower women and enhance their participation in maintaining maritime security.
The ministry added that Sheikha Jawaher toured several key facilities, including the operations department and the logistical support units. She also visited the flagpole, a national symbol of sovereignty, and took part in a sea tour to observe field operations in progress.
Sheikha Jawaher emphasized that her visit underscores the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to empowering women and strengthening their essential role in promoting maritime security and achieving strategic objectives.
