KUWAIT CITY, May 22: The Kuwait Football Association has mutually agreed to terminate the contract of Portuguese coach Emilio Peixe, who led the Kuwaiti Olympic team.

Despite the presence of talented players, Peixe failed to make a significant impact since assuming the role in August 2022. The team suffered multiple defeats under his leadership, with inconsistent performances in most matches.

Although the team managed to qualify for the Asian Cup finals in Qatar last April, their performance in the tournament was disappointing. The team, known as the Olympic Blue, conceded nine goals in three matches, losing to Vietnam 1-3 and Uzbekistan 0-5, before securing a 2-1 victory against Malaysia in their final match.

The decision to part ways with Peixe comes in the aftermath of these disappointing results, with the Asian Cup finals serving as the tipping point for the Football Association.
