Arab Cup trophy.

KUWAIT CITY, April 1: Kuwait has been drawn to face Comoros in the playoffs for the finals of the Arab Cup. Other matchups in the same round include Oman vs. Somalia, Bahrain vs. Djibouti, Syria vs. South Sudan, Palestine vs. Yemen, Lebanon vs. Libya, and Mauritania vs. Sudan. The play-off matches are scheduled for November 25 and 26, with each tie being a single-leg encounter. The winners will advance to the finals, which will take place in Qatar from December 1 to 18.

Comoros has shown strong performances in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, making them a formidable opponent.

The draw excluded several top-ranked teams, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Iraq, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, and Jordan, from the playoffs.

The previous edition of the tournament was held in Qatar in 2021, featuring 16 teams. Algeria emerged as champions, defeating Tunisia 2-0 in the final.

Historically, Iraq holds the record for the most Arab Cup titles, winning the tournament four times. Saudi Arabia follows with two titles, while Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco have each won the competition once.
