Kuwait fish sales hit 788 tons in the first half year, average price up
Local fish sales reached 788 tons in the first half of the year, valued at 1.93 million dinars, the Central Administration of Statistics reported.

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 4: The Central Administration of Statistics has reported that local fish sales in Kuwait during the first half of the current year totaled 788.1 tons, valued at 1.93 million dinars. In the first quarter, 538.02 tons of fish were sold, generating 1.298 million dinars in revenue. In the second quarter, 250.08 tons were sold, with a total value of 631.3 thousand dinars. The average price per kilogram was approximately 2.414 dinars in the first quarter and 2.525 dinars in the second quarter.

Monthly sales data revealed that January saw 176.7 tons of fish sold, amounting to 421.8 thousand dinars, while February recorded 199.34 tons in sales for 468.6 thousand dinars. March had 161.96 tons sold, totaling 408.5 thousand dinars. In April, 93.6 tons were sold for 232.77 thousand dinars, followed by 90.97 tons in May, valued at 237.9 thousand dinars. June’s sales reached 65.44 tons, with a value of 160.63 thousand dinars.

The statistics covered 25 different types of fish, including shrimp, sea bream, sheem, silvery croaker, bass, grouper, and naqrour.

Additionally, the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources has implemented fishing dates for certain fish species to allow for reproduction and ensure sustainable fisheries for the country.
