Kuwait foils 50kg narcotics smuggling attempt by sea
The suspect with the seized narcotics

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10: The Ministry of Interior has announced that a joint operation between the General Department of Coast Guard and the General Department for Combating Narcotics successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 50 kilograms of narcotics into the country through its territorial waters. The drugs, with an estimated market value of approximately 150,000 Kuwaiti dinars, were seized during the operation.

In a statement released on Monday, the ministry explained that security forces had received reliable information about the smuggling attempt. Acting on this intelligence, a combined security team from the Maritime Security Department and the Local Anti-Narcotics Department was formed to monitor and track the movements of the perpetrators.

The individual involved in the smuggling attempt was apprehended with the intent to distribute the drugs within the country. Both the accused and the confiscated narcotics have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal proceedings.
