DOHA , Jan 16, (KUNA): A high-ranking sports official confirmed on Tuesday that Kuwait is set to host the Gulf Cup tournament (Khaleeji 26) as originally scheduled in December of this year. Hayef Al-Mutairi, Deputy Chairperson of the Kuwait Football Association and member of the Executive Office of the Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation, reassured that Kuwait is fully prepared to host this significant sports event aimed at fostering brotherhood.

Following a meeting in Doha, Qatar, of the Executive Office, Al-Mutairi addressed any speculation, dismissing rumors that Kuwait had withdrawn from hosting the tournament. He clarified that the meeting, chaired by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa, the Gulf federation chairperson, focused on discussing the agenda, committee formation, confirming Kuwait's hosting, and outlining Iraq as an alternative, adhering to the federation's constituent rules.

In response to the rumors, the Kuwaiti Football Association, on Monday, officially declared its readiness to host the Gulf Cup games as planned in December.
