KUWAIT CITY, Dec 22: The Kuwait handball team has departed Croatia and is heading to Tunisia for the second phase of its external training camp. This camp is a crucial part of its preparation for the 29th Handball World Cup, which will take place from January 14 to February 2 across Croatia, Denmark, and Norway. Kuwait will compete in Group 3 alongside Qatar, Austria, and France.
During its Tunisian camp, Kuwait will play two friendly matches against the host team to further prepare for the tournament.
The team has completed the first phase of their external camp in Croatia under the guidance of Algerian coach Said Hijazi.
Faisal Saywan, the technical director of the national teams, shared that the first stage of preparation met the expectations of both the administrative and technical staff. The camp saw significant progress in both defensive and offensive performance. Saywan explained, "In the first phase, we focused on muscle-strengthening exercises to help prevent injuries ahead of the World Cup."
He also emphasized that the technical staff, led by Hijazi, worked to implement key tactical elements in the Kuwait camp. Now, the focus shifts to applying these strategies in real match scenarios during the friendly matches in Tunisia.
Regarding the team's prospects in the World Cup, Saywan expressed confidence, noting that the "Blues" have a group of dedicated and responsible players. He added, "We aim to deliver performances worthy of Kuwait’s handball legacy. The third group features strong international teams, and we will fight hard in the preliminary round."
