ABU DHABI, April 27: Kuwait clinched its fourth victory by defeating UAE 33-2 0 to win silver after handball competitions in the inaugural Gulf Youth Games, hosted by the UAE and ongoing until the second of next May. Saudi Arabia won gold with 10 points, while Bahrain secured third place with six points.
Shabib Al-Hajri, Vice President of the Handball Federation, lauded the players' performance throughout the tournament, commending their second-place finish and silver medal. He noted that the team showcased abundant young talent with promising futures ahead.
Al-Hajri emphasized the players' determination to elevate their performance in upcoming stages, eyeing significant competitions such as the Asian Cup and the World Cup qualifiers.
In the triathlon event, where athletes compete in swimming, cycling, and running, Kuwait's national team member Fahd Al-Enezi secured fourth place. Competitions continued on the final day, featuring Salman Al-Sharhan and Omar Al-Shaibani in the duathlon.
Salem Al-Abakal and Badr Al-Ansari also competed in the initial round of golf events, which commenced two days ago and will span three consecutive days.
