KUWAIT CITY, July 2: Faisal Siwan, the technical director of the national handball teams, outlined that the association's plan for preparing our teams is progressing as scheduled by the board of directors and the coaching staff. The aim is to develop teams capable of competing in international tournaments and representing Kuwaiti handball effectively.
He elaborated, stating, "The national teams will embark on external camps to enhance talent, maintain continuity, and gain experience. The team will participate in Cairo next month for trial matches, while the youth team plans a Slovenian camp with friendly tournaments against European and local teams, after filtering down to 30 players from an initial group of 42.
Siwan highlighted the upcoming competitions for various teams, including the Arab Championship, Gulf Championship, and Asian Championship for the youth team and the 10th Asian Championship in Iran for the junior team in September. Before their Asian campaign, the team will host the South Koreans for friendly matches.
Meanwhile, the youth handball team is currently in Slovenia preparing for the 18th Asian Championship and the 2025 World Cup Qualifiers in Jordan from July 14-25. Regarding the senior team, Siwan noted they have entered the second stage of preparation after a camp in Turkey and are participating in a friendly tournament in Slovenia. He added, "Currently, we have 30 players, which will be narrowed down to 24, with potential additions by the technical staff as needed."
