KUWAIT CITY, Feb 4: The 55th regular session of the Arab Permanent Committee for Human Rights began on Tuesday in Kuwait, attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and representatives from relevant government agencies in member states.

Chairman of the committee, Ambassador Talal Al-Mutairi, spoke to KUNA about Kuwait's commitment to advancing and safeguarding human rights at national, regional, and international levels. Hosting the session is part of Kuwait's ongoing efforts to contribute to human rights dialogue and protection.

Ambassador Al-Mutairi highlighted that this session is part of the committee's continuous work to address critical human rights issues across the Arab world. Key topics of discussion include the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, where ongoing human rights violations remain a pressing concern.

Additionally, the session will focus on the Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee’s activities and review the Arab strategy for human rights. The goal is to enhance cooperation and coordination mechanisms among Arab states in this field.

Al-Mutairi underscored the importance of Arab solidarity in confronting current regional challenges, particularly in light of developments in the Arab region. He emphasized the severe violations faced by Palestine, which contradict international norms and laws, and urged member states to remain united in addressing these violations.
