KUWAIT CITY, April 9: The inauguration of the new maternity hospital in Al-Sabah Health District was held today under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and in the presence of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, who represented His Highness the Amir. The ceremony was attended by Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah and senior state officials.
Upon arrival, His Highness the Crown Prince was warmly welcomed by Health Minister Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi and other Ministry of Health officials. The Crown Prince unveiled a commemorative plaque and toured the hospital’s emergency department and operating room.
During the ceremony, Dr. Al-Awadhi expressed his deep gratitude to His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince for their ongoing support. He emphasized that the opening of the new maternity hospital was a significant achievement for Kuwait's healthcare sector and an important step in the country's commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services.
The Health Minister described healthcare as a moral and national commitment, one that strengthens with every mother and newborn receiving care. He highlighted the hospital's importance in offering specialized services during childbirth and motherhood, critical stages of life. The hospital is equipped with advanced technologies and skilled national professionals, ensuring both physical and psychological well-being.
Dr. Al-Awadhi also acknowledged the hospital as part of Kuwait’s National Health Strategy, aligning with the Vision 2035 framework. He noted that the hospital's opening is just one of many projects supporting the development pillar of "High-Quality Healthcare" and contributing to the "Achieving Health and Well-being for All" program, which is central to the country’s development plan. These initiatives also align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in achieving universal health coverage.
Looking ahead, Dr. Al-Awadhi reiterated that the new maternity hospital marks the beginning of a broader initiative to strengthen Kuwait's health infrastructure. The hospital is part of a series of ongoing construction and expansion projects aimed at providing modern medical facilities with the latest technologies and staffed by highly qualified professionals.
In closing, Dr. Al-Awadhi pledged that the healthcare sector will continue to uphold the values of mercy, compassion, integrity, and innovation while providing a safe and high-quality healthcare environment for all citizens. The ceremony also featured a documentary film showcasing the stages of the hospital's construction, followed by the presentation of a souvenir gift to the Crown Prince’s representative. His Highness’s representative departed the venue, receiving the same warmth and appreciation with which he had been welcomed.
