Kuwait-India Joint Working Group on Hydrocarbons convenes in New Delhi

NEW DELHI, Dec 11: The seventh meeting of the Kuwait-India Joint Working Group on Hydrocarbons took place in New Delhi on Tuesday and Wednesday. A statement from the Kuwait Embassy in New Delhi confirmed the participation of a high-level delegation from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Oil, led by Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Affairs Khaled Waleed Al-Deyain. The meeting was accompanied by a specialized workshop.

Kuwait's Ambassador to India, Meshal Al-Shemali, emphasized the significance of the meeting and the workshop, highlighting discussions on strengthening cooperation between Kuwait and India in renewable energy, recycling, and joint petrochemical projects. He underscored Kuwait's vital role in ensuring energy security for India, noting that Kuwait is India's sixth-largest energy partner, with considerable expertise and efficiency in the energy sector. Ambassador Al-Shemali also pointed out India's promising opportunities for investment in renewable energy, particularly in oil and gas.

The Ambassador further noted the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two nations to establish a joint committee for bilateral cooperation at the level of foreign ministries. This committee aims to address issues of mutual interest, including energy and oil, reflecting a shared commitment to elevating bilateral relations to greater and more comprehensive levels.

The Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas hosted the seventh meeting of the Joint Working Group on Hydrocarbons and the accompanying workshop in New Delhi. The previous meeting of the Joint Working Group was held virtually on July 31, 2023.
