KUWAIT CITY, Feb 16: Deputy Director General of the Protection of Expatriate Workers Sector at the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) Dr. Fahad Al-Murad confirmed that the authority has formed a proactive inspection team to monitor suspected human trafficking cases and ensure that employers adhere to the regulations. Al-Murad announced the joint educational program held Sunday at the authority’s headquarters in Riggae to explain the mechanisms for protecting expatriate workers.
Representatives of diplomatic missions in the country attended the event. According to Al-Murad, the team’s major tasks include proactive inspection of workers and employers in private and government establishments and sites, verification of the conditions of workers in the housing allocated to them, and application of the national referral system on the workers to regulate the labor market under the relevant laws and regulations. He revealed this move is part of PAM’s plans to enhance control over the labor market.
Meanwhile, Al-Murad announced that a new shelter for male expatriate workers in an area measuring 10,000 square meters will open soon. He affirmed that this step aims to protect the workers’ rights and prevent any violation related to exploitation or human trafficking. He added the authority is keen on creating a suitable work environment for all expatriate workers in the country from the ethical, constitutional and legal standpoints per international agreements ratified by Kuwait regarding the protection and preservation of workers’ rights.
