KUWAIT CITY, Dec 3: Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, who also serves as Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Nationality, emphasized on Monday that "Kuwait is a country of humanity and will not forget those who have served it."

Sheikh Fahad also stated that the opportunity to appeal decisions made by the Nationality Investigation Committee has not yet been opened but assured that it will be available soon. He highlighted that the Constitutional Court has previously confirmed that granting and revoking citizenship are sovereign matters outside the judiciary's jurisdiction. "We hope everyone understands this," he said, adding, "Several lawyers have acknowledged this, and we urge others to respect the judiciary’s stance, which regards citizenship as a sovereign issue."

This statement was made by Sheikh Fahad during a media briefing following his participation in a celebration organized by the UAE Embassy in Kuwait, commemorating the 53rd anniversary of the UAE federation's establishment.

"Citizenship is one matter, and living in Kuwait is another. Kuwait is a country of humanity and will not forget those who have served it," Sheikh Fahad reiterated.

He further affirmed that Kuwaiti wives, divorcees, and widows whose citizenships were withdrawn under Article 8 of the Nationality Law will retain their jobs and continue to receive their salaries. This measure, he explained, follows the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Regarding the 45th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, hosted by Kuwait on Sunday, Sheikh Fahad remarked that the event symbolized the spirit of Gulf unity and collaboration. It demonstrated a shared commitment to strengthening solidarity and achieving the aspirations of Gulf citizens. He noted, "The GCC countries have inherited their deep commitment to the Council from their founding fathers."

On Kuwait's preparations for the Arabian Gulf Cup (Gulf 26), scheduled to take place from December 21 to January 3, Sheikh Fahad confirmed that all arrangements are complete. He praised the high level of organization and readiness displayed during the recent match between the Kuwaiti and Jordanian national teams. Additionally, he extended a warm welcome to the tournament's participants, describing Kuwait as their "second home."
