Kuwait issues warning after wave of surveillance camera hacking attempts
Public urged to change default passwords amid surveillance camera breach threats.

KUWAIT CITY, April 22: The General Department of Security Media at the Ministry of Interior has announced that the Cybercrime Combating Department has recently detected numerous attempts to hack surveillance cameras across the State of Kuwait.

Authorities are urging the public to take appropriate security precautions, including updating their protection systems and avoiding the installation of surveillance cameras in private indoor areas to safeguard privacy and security.

The Cybercrime Department also emphasized that sharing or reposting any footage or images obtained through such security breaches is a criminal offense punishable by law.

It was further noted that thousands of surveillance cameras worldwide are streaming online without proper protection, often because the default passwords have not been changed. The department strongly advised users to immediately change default passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and only access camera feeds online when absolutely necessary and through secure channels.
