KUWAIT CITY, Sept 21: Kuwait has officially joined the Union of Tax Authorities in Islamic Countries, as confirmed by the issuance of Decree Law No. 99 of 2024.
The explanatory note accompanying the decree emphasizes that the decision to join the Union aims to facilitate improvements in tax administration and enhance the implementation of taxes in accordance with Islamic law, particularly concerning zakat. The membership seeks to address the accelerating global challenges faced by tax authorities and provides a platform for discussion and exchange of experiences among member countries.
Additionally, the Union aims to develop comprehensive tax and zakat policies, foster cooperation and mutual assistance between member countries' tax authorities, and strengthen the role of zakat and tax administration in promoting economic development.
