Kuwait keen on developing digital economy with global partners
Minister of State for Communications Affairs, Omar Al-Omar

WASHINGTON, Oct 19: Kuwait's Minister of State for Communications Affairs, Omar Al-Omar, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to adopting advanced digital strategies aimed at improving government services and enhancing institutional performance.

This statement was made during his participation in the Google Cloud Conference for the Government Sector in Washington, DC. Al-Omar, accompanied by a delegation from the "Supervisory Committee for the Implementation of the Framework Agreement for Strategic Partnership between the Kuwaiti Government and Google Cloud," emphasized Kuwait’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its collaboration with Google Cloud in digital transformation and innovation within the government sector.

He highlighted the growing significance of cloud computing in boosting operational efficiency and driving innovation, reiterating Kuwait's dedication to digital strategies that support the transition toward a digital economy in line with Kuwait Vision 2035.

During his visit, Al-Omar met with Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian and other company leaders. He conveyed Kuwait’s interest in attracting global companies and leveraging their expertise to develop state institutions, with a particular focus on advancing the digital skills of Kuwaiti youth. Discussions covered the implementation of the framework agreement and the development of data centers, as well as exchanging insights on global developments and enhancing joint cooperation.

Al-Omar also engaged with leaders of other major technology firms, exploring opportunities for joint collaboration in advancing Kuwait’s digital economy.

In January 2023, Google Cloud signed a framework agreement with the Kuwaiti government to establish a national alliance, aimed at developing a roadmap for a comprehensive digital transformation program. This partnership aims to improve government operations and enhance cybersecurity.

Google Cloud’s collaboration with Kuwait involves key entities, including the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority, the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority, and the Central Agency for Information Technology. The company offers a range of artificial intelligence services integrated into its global infrastructure, designed to support institutions in their digital transformation efforts.

Google Cloud is recognized as a trusted partner in over 200 countries and regions worldwide. (KUNA)
